Who is eligible?
Participants will be selected on the basis of their current research abstracts. Admission is strictly limited. The pace is intense. Participants must attend all sessions and give as well as receive feedback.
As a participant, you will
Hear established scholars discuss their strategies to formulate research questions, design projects, and draw important and practical conclusions. Past speakers have included Ronald Coase, Douglass North, Oliver Williamson, Paul Joskow, Gary Libecap, Mary Shirley, Elinor Ostrom, Lee Alston, Alexandra Benham, Lee Benham, John Nye, Philip Keefer, Thrainn Eggertsson, Claude Ménard, Sebastián Galiani, Konstantin Sonin, Alberto Simpser, and many more.
Make two presentations of your own research:
(1) in a small group, receiving faculty guidance
(2) after revisions, to the entire workshop, with discussion following.
Network through close, informal contacts with a worldwide set of scholars – faculty and workshop alumni – who have an enduring
interest in institutional analysis.
Immediately after the workshop, you can also attend the 2007 ISNIE conference in Reykjavik, June 21-23. This annual meeting of the International Society of New Institutional Economics offers you the opportunity to meet like-minded institutional scholars from around the world.
Workshop location
Reykjavik, Iceland, June 17-21, 2007.
How to apply (deadline December 1, 2006)
E-mail an abstract – 350 words maximum – of a current research project of yours, plus a one-page curriculum vitae, to workshop2007@coase.org
At the top of your abstract, list the title, your name, and the number of words in the abstract. Any co-authors must be listed.
On your CV, include as references the names and e-mail addresses of two scholars familiar with you and your work.
As e-mail subject line, use Application for 2007 RCI Workshop.
Attach your abstract and CV as Microsoft Word files, using as filenames yyy abstract.doc and yyy cv.doc where yyy is your surname.
Abstracts will be judged on the clarity and importance of the research question, and on their institutional focus. Please do not submit any longer documents, as they will not be read.
Costs
The cost of the workshop – tuition and meals – is $2195 USD. This does not include hotel accommodations or travel expenses.
A limited number of fellowships will be awarded competitively to scholars from developing and transitional countries, for tuition and meals, hotel accommodations, and fees for the ISNIE conference. All fellowship recipients will attend ISNIE 2007 as part of their training. If you wish to be considered for a fellowship, (1) you must state that in your application and (2) include your citizenship, country of residence, and current professional status.
