Objectives:

The project goal is to support public debate about current state of democracy, to strengthen the independence of key regulatory and judiciary institutions as well as to increase transparency and support implementation of anti-corruption measures in state-owned companies and local governments in Moldova. Informed citizens and corruption-resistant public authorities are basic conditions for reducing risk of “state capture”, increasing efficiency of the state, increasing engagement of citizens and improving democracy.

Specific goals and activities:

  • Supporting public debate about current state of democracy based on available data, results of a survey among key personalities, focus groups, and results of a representative public opinion poll
  • Supporting and evaluating the independence and transparency of key regulatory and judiciary institutions including open selection process of their leaders
  • Increasing transparency, supporting the implementation of anti-corruption measures and improving the financial stability of state-owned companies and self-governments
