Information about the seminar:
Joint seminar organized by the Representation of the European Commission in Slovakia and the institute INEKO

Main goal: To identify main barriers and advise solutions for sustainable increases in employment
Time and Place: 22.9.2015, Bratislava
Languages: Slovak, English, simultaneous translation

The strategic document Europe 2002 sets the national target for Slovakia, in terms of employment of the age group 20 to 64 years at 72%, however, last Eurostat data from 2014 show considerably lower rate of employment, at 65,9%. National Program of Reforms 2015 by Slovak Ministry of Finance is supposed to bring Slovakia closer to the target by focusing on four main areas of increasing employment: improvements in employment services, support for youth employment, fight against long-term unemployment and increasing mobility of labour. Significant ascends in employment without rapid growth of GDP, as can be observed now, are to great degree merely anomalies to the long-term trend. To what extent are these improvements of the labour market sustainable? Are the planned reforms enough in order to improve employment level significantly at the level of the national target of the Europe 2020 document?
